El Programa Fulbright es uno de los más potentes instrumentos de diplomacia pública conocidos. Sus participantes, elegidos con criterios de transparencia en base a sus méritos académicos y profesionales y potencial de liderazgo, tienen la oportunidad de estudiar, enseñar e investigar pero, ante todo, de intercambiar ideas y contribuir a encontrar soluciones a retos e intereses de alcance global. Por ello el Programa Fulbright recibió en 2014 el Premio Príncipe de Asturias de Cooperación Internacional.
Con carácter dinámico y vocación de crecimiento desde que se creó en 1946, el programa facilita en la actualidad intercambios entre ciudadanos de EEUU y de más de 160 países con el objetivo de incrementar el entendimiento mutuo entre las naciones. Pionero en el intercambio educativo, científico y cultural, más de setenta años después sigue siendo referencia internacional gracias a los más de 390.000 participantes que lo han dotado de reconocimiento y prestigio en el mundo entero.
El carácter global y la decidida apuesta por la excelencia y calidad académica, profesional y humana de sus participantes se refleja en los 62 premios Nobel o 89 premios Pulitzer obtenidos a nivel mundial. En España, 6 premios Príncipe de Asturias son Fulbrighters. Todo ellos muestra la acertada inversión del Programa Fulbright en los jóvenes del presente y la decisión firme de seguir contribuyendo a formar a los líderes del futuro.

The Fulbright program is one of the most powerful public diplomacy instruments known. The grantees are selected with transparency criteria, based on academic and professional merit and leadership potential they have the good fortune to study, teach and research in another country but, foremost, to exchange ideas and contribute to finding solutions to challenges and interests of global reach. Therefore, the Fulbright Program was awarded with the Príncipe de Asturias for International Cooperation in 2014.
Since its inception in 1946, the program has been dynamic and has been designed to foster exchanges between citizens of the United States and more than 160 countries in order to increase mutual understanding among nations. Pioneer in educational, scientific and cultural exchange, more than seventy years later it remains an international reference thanks to the more than 390,000 participants who have given it recognition and prestige throughout the world.
The global character and determined commitment to the excellence and academic, professional and human quality of its participants is reflected in the 60 Nobel Prizes or 86 Pulitzer Prizes obtained worldwide. In Spain, 6 Prince of Asturias awards are Fulbrighters.
